C# Phrygian Scale

Phrygian is the darkest of the common minor modes. Its flat 2nd, just a half step above the Root, gives it a tense sound heard in Spanish music and metal. It is the third mode of the major scale. Over a minor chord, lean on the flat 2nd falling back to the Root, or move between the i and bII chords, as flamenco and metal riffs do.
