G Lydian Scale

Lydian is the Major Scale with a raised 4th, which gives it a bright, floating, dreamlike sound. It is the fourth mode of the major scale. Film composers use it for wonder and flight, and Joe Satriani's "Flying in a Blue Dream" is a classic guitar example. It fits major 7th chords, especially maj7#11, and the move from the I chord to a major II chord.
